Rescue Me ID: 18-04-16-00131Beverly (female)

Saint Bernard    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

PLEASE DON'T EMAIL ASKING IF SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF SHE IS LISTED, SHE IS AVAILABLE. FILL OUT THE APPLICATION AT THE WEBSITE LISTED BELOW. Beverly is a 3/4 year old female Saint Bernard. She was surrendered for being protective over her property. She can sometimes take a minute to warm up to new people but it's usually very quick and then she's licking your face and leaning in for loves. She is doing great with the dogs where she is at now but we tried introducing her to a fosters two dogs and she did great with one and not the other. We aren't sure if it was her or the other dog putting off the vibes. Anyway, she's been an outdoor dog ... (Read More)for the last 8 months so may need a reminder in her potty training, but she is smart and eager to please so it shouldn't take much. She is just such a sweetheart. She is going to be spayed soon and is fully vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm tested. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Beverly, please know that we will ask any furry members of the family to meet her before she leaves her current location (Spokane, WA). Rescue Me ID: 18-03-01-00172Biggs (male)

Saint Bernard Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Biggs is a 6 year old Walker Coonhound/Saint Bernard mix looking for a new family. He is an indoor dog, but loves the outdoors too. Great with kids, but is clumsy so older kids are better. Great with other dogs, but no kitties. He's a hound so he's a barker-bayer. He likes to let people know he's there. He's also a counter surfer (he's big, so just keep food off the counter and you will be fine). Biggs is neutered and house trained, and does fine when left alone at home. However, his current family said he has been known to pull food containers off the counter and chew/eat them. They have also baby proofed cabinets/drawers. Biggs is 120 ... (Read More)pounds, and as a hound, if he catches a scent, he's gone, so a secure fence and gate is definitely needed. Biggs is a big lover and needs a patient family that will teach him not to jump on the counter and get in the trash. Apply to adopt Biggs at www.saintrescue.org. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-26-00170Sadie (female)

Saint Bernard    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sadie is a beautiful 2 year old Saint Bernard (will be 3 in April). She loves people, but is also protective of her family. She is housebroken and has been through some basic obedience classes, where she excelled. Sadie is very food motivated :) She is a very loving, sweet dog that enjoys time outside running with her doggy friend. Sadie has grown up with kiddos and likes to follow them around the yard. Sadie has grown up with cats, but will chase neighbor cats if they provoke her. She has been good with chickens, but also barks at the neighbors livestock. The reason she is being rehomed is because she has been fighting with the 10 year old ... (Read More)female Golden Retriever in the home. This is obviously a concern not only for the dogs' wellbeing, but with kids in the home. The family is heartbroken, but feel this is the best route to go. Sadie has been pretty intense meeting new dogs, so if possible, she should be an only dog, or with a submissive male. More socialization and training would be great for her. She is very smart. Sadie has also had some food guarding issues, so should be fed separately. Sadie has been well loved and cared for. She is located in MT. If interested, apply at application. We are working closely with the family to find the right home and they will be very involved in the process. (Less)

Saint Bernards are very patient with children and are extremely devoted to their people. It is important that Saint Bernards are thoroughly trained and socialized as puppies so that they are manageable as adults. Despite their huge size, Saint Bernards can live in an apartment if they get enough exercise.

lnteresting Saint Bernard Trivia Low-Cost Idaho Spay & Neuter Clinics
Saint Bernard dogs have rescued thousands of people from freezing to death in snowstorms and avalanches. Saint Bernards were bred by a monk to be able to rescue Alpine travelers. Supposedly, Saint Bernards used to wear small casks of brandy intended to warm the people they were sent to rescue. The monks of St. Bernard Hospice deny this having ever been the case.
