Rescue Me ID: 16-11-28-00289Heidi (female)
Heidi is a wonderful dog. She would make a great addition to any family. She has filled my home with love for 3 1/2 years, however she has not adjusted well to my new baby... so a home with no children under 13 would be best for her. Heidi loves to be with us, doesn't matter if it is for long walks, car rides or even just sitting around watching movies all day. When we are out we leave disney on for her but she rather we would be with her so Heidi is always excited to see you when you get home so you'd need to make time to give her lots of love when you walk in the door. Heidi loves sweets... her favorite treat is candy corn and frozen cream puffs (that's only sometimes). She doesn't like hard treats she will spit them ouy, so you have to get the soft ones. Heidi wants to be as close to you as possible, she loves to be rubbed, brushed and talked to -- we normally are talking to her all day long! Heidi had the run of my house she is allowed on the furniture and she thinks the chair and a half is hers. Heidi really doesn't lay on dog beds even though she has had a few she rather just lay on the sofa or bed. Heidi is a bed hog and needs a pillow for her head... she is spoiled... I would have it any other way. Heidi doesn't like being in a cage so that can't ever happen. Since she can't be in a cage when she gets groomed she needs the express service where they don't cage her and it is bettet to go to the same person each time because she gets nervous when you leave her. Heidi is house broken and has been to training (however she hasn't been listening since the baby) Heidi does take medicine for her anxiety, she was a rescue when I got her and she has separation anxiety --- it has gotten better though with all the love and attention she gets! Heidi doesn't tend to play with toys she has a bunch but doesn't seem to mess with them. Heidi does eat socks, will swallow then whole so you want to make sure to put them away. Heidi is Full of love, and it breaks my heart I will have to find her a new home. If you are interested in this sweet girl, please contact Keturah at 503-383-1457 or email email@example.com.. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-22-00123Dune (male)
Dune is still a pup at about a year old, so we predict he could be maybe 70-80 pounds when fed properly and cared for. We know he is good with dogs, but cats are still a mystery! Read his complete profile and fill out an application on our rescue site- www.reachoutrescue.org

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-12-00137Polo (male)
So, Polo was the photo challenge of the day. Why? Because this dog is SOO mellow and laid back that he was content to simply sit and be admired. We could not seem to be able to entice him to stand up for pictures. He is that chill. Polo is a Great Pyrenees mix who is 5 years old and weighs 102 pounds. Polo was turned over to our shelter due to having developed issues toward the cats in the home. He is super friendly, super sweet and just one cool dude. He walks well on a leash. Polo can NOT go into a home where there are cats and he can NOT go into a home with male dogs. He arrived with Shelby (also on this page) and he is excellent with her, and with female dogs he has met at our shelter. SADLY...Polo is heartworm positive. We need a foster or a foster - to - adopt home as soon as possible so that we may begin the life saving treatment that Polo needs. CCHS will pay all costs associated with the treatment of Polo's heartworms. (Less)

Saint Bernard Dogs can make good pets in Maryland if they match your IifestyIe. The Saint Bernard is an enormous, friendly and trustworthy dog. Saint Bernards are very patient with children and are extremely devoted to their people. It is important that Saint Bernards are thoroughly trained and socialized as puppies so that they are manageable as adults. Despite their huge size, Saint Bernards can live in an apartment if they get enough exercise.
