Rescue Me ID: 17-09-16-00176Brutus (male)

Saint Bernard    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Brutus has been through a lot but has made an amazing recovery & is looking for a family to call his own. After being picked up as a stray & held at animal control, he went to a wonderful foster home but escaped the fence & was hit by a car. The driver never stopped but luckily people in the area did. He had a broken leg that has been set & is now healed & he's running & playing like the happy dog that he is. The vet says he's 4-5 yrs old but his foster thinks more like 2-3 based on his energy level & weight gain. Sometimes a rough start makes it hard to tell. He's great with other dogs. Cats unknown. He's good with kids but because of his ... (Read More)size he can easily knock them down so he needs a home with kids 12+. He has to have a 6 ft fence with gates that are very secure. He may be confused the first couple weeks so he will need someone committed to going outside with him & watching him until he realizes it's his new home. He's neutered & UTD on shots & preventatives. He's currently being fostered in Louisville Ky. His adoption fee is $300. Contact us at luckyfamsanimalrescue@gmail.com (Less)

Saint Bernards are very patient with children and are extremely devoted to their people. lnteresting Saint Bernard Trivia Low-Cost Tennessee Spay & Neuter Clinics
Saint Bernard dogs have rescued thousands of people from freezing to death in snowstorms and avalanches. A Saint Bernard can track and find a person buried under an avalanche of snow. Saint Bernards can reverse hypothermia in a freezing person by laying down next to him or her and transferring their body heat to the person. Supposedly, Saint Bernards used to wear small casks of brandy intended to warm the people they were sent to rescue. The monks of St. Bernard Hospice deny this having ever been the case.
