Shelby is a gorgeous baby that we are estimating to be around 18 months old. She loves people including children but doesn't seem to be very fond of the other dogs here at the rescue and would probably be better off as an only dog. She would love to have a family of her own to do things with. If you are interested in adopting Shelby please fill out an application at saintbernardrescuetn.myresq.org

Saint Bernard Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

BAXTER is a handsome, young mixed breed male who was found as a stray in Troy in NW TN. He is over 1 year of age and weighs 60 to 65 pounds. His foster says that he is super sweet and loves kids. He has been observed with children 8 years of age and older, but we expect he would also do well with younger children. He gets along well with people and with other dogs. He has chased the cats at his foster home, but does not seem aggressive toward them. He needs work on leash training which he is currently receiving. He was heartworm positive when he was first rescued, but has now completed the treatment needed to rid him of heartworms. ... (Read More)He has been vetted, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Baxter if it means he will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)3 non-profit rescue to cover part of the cost of the veterinary care he has received. (Less)

Saint Bernard Dogs can make good pets in Tennessee if they match your IifestyIe. The Saint Bernard is an enormous, friendly and trustworthy dog. Saint Bernards are very patient with children and are extremely devoted to their people. It is important that Saint Bernards are thoroughly trained and socialized as puppies so that they are manageable as adults. Despite their huge size, Saint Bernards can live in an apartment if they get enough exercise.

Saint Bernard
lnteresting Saint Bernard Trivia Low-Cost Tennessee Spay & Neuter Clinics
Saint Bernard dogs have rescued thousands of people from freezing to death in snowstorms and avalanches. A Saint Bernard can track and find a person buried under an avalanche of snow. Saint Bernards can reverse hypothermia in a freezing person by laying down next to him or her and transferring their body heat to the person. Supposedly, Saint Bernards used to wear small casks of brandy intended to warm the people they were sent to rescue. The monks of St. Bernard Hospice deny this having ever been the case.
