|Rescue Me ID: 14-01-14-00256Austin (male)|
Austin is a friendly St. Bernard that needs more space. As you can see from the photo he takes up most of my kitchen! Austin is 5 years old and house trained. He does not prefer to be in warm spaces and likes the rain, snow, and as much mud as he can find! He is a long haired St. Bernard and usually has a shave for the summer. He tries very hard to be a good boy, but needs far more one-on-one time than my job allows for. He likes children but is not sure what to do with them - he still thinks he fits in everyones lap and loves to nuzzle. Austin is very submissive and tends to get along with other animals well. HE has been a good dog, but even as the runt of his litter his energy level and curiosity are too much for my small space. Austin enjoys playing but doesn't seem to have enough energy to play for more than 30 minutes at a time. Fetch is not his game - he does enjoy watching others get the ball for him though! He is great on a leash and enjoys walking. He doesn't eat as much as I would have imagined, just under 8 cups a day. RIght now Austin has long hair, but due to the rain it is not very attractive! We plan to have a spa day as soon as the back yard dries off a bit... he truly enjoys mud! My intention is to find Austin a better home than he has, he is a good boy and I feel bad that I am not longer able to give him the time he needs. If I am not able to find a perfect place for him he will stay with me. Aside form his occasional Houdini acts from our fenced in yard he is in a safe a caring home. Austin is a purebread St. Bernard; however, I chose not to go through the registration process and therefore have no paperwork for that. (Less)

Saint Bernard Dogs can make good pets in Vermont if they match your IifestyIe. The Saint Bernard is an enormous, friendly and trustworthy dog. Saint Bernards are very patient with children and are extremely devoted to their people. It is important that Saint Bernards are thoroughly trained and socialized as puppies so that they are manageable as adults. Despite their huge size, Saint Bernards can live in an apartment if they get enough exercise.
